About Wearable Souvenirs

My name is Shannon and I founded Wearable Souvenirs in 2008.  St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, is my favorite place.  While driving over the hills and around the curves of North Shore road in the spring of 2007, I thought of a few fun t-shirt designs.  They were shirts I wanted; shirts I wasn’t seeing for sale on the island.  I smiled, and put the idea away for a rainy day.

Fast-forward over a year, and it’s indeed rainy.  It’s fall 2008, in Ohio and my full-time editor job has transitioned to full-time mom and part-time freelancer.  As the rains turn cold here, my mind always returns to St. John.  I decided that, if I couldn’t get myself to St. John, I could at least have a shirt—a wearable souvenir, a tangible piece of the island keeping me warm. 

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to find a local St. John artist.  After a few emails and a phone call, I placed my design ideas in the hands of the talented Chelsea O’Brien.

After spending the winter creating designs, the spring finding a printer, and the summer on this website, I’m absolutely thrilled to share these designs with you.  I hope they put a smile on your face, and that the super-soft organic cotton is a reminder of the super-soft sand of Cinnamon Bay.
